“Grandplant” or Stay Where You Are: Evaluating Life-Changing Moves
Wednesday, December 16 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm EST

Many grandparents face the difficult decision of whether to relocate to live closer to their grandchildren and family or to remain where they are. Drawing on decades of experience helping people navigate life transitions, Steve Gurney, Founder of the Positive Aging Community, will discuss the practical and emotional aspects, and the family dynamics that come with “grandplanting” — moving near grandchildren.
We will consider the tradeoffs of relocating versus staying, including questions such as:
- What does independence look like for me in 5 and 10 years — and does this move support or compromise it?
- Have I actually asked my adult child if they want me nearby — and am I sure I heard the real answer, not the polite one?
Steve will also answer questions about other life-changing moves, such as moving in with your grandchildren’s family.
