Purim starts tonight.
Purim is a joyous holiday in which we read the Book of Esther (Megillat Esther) in a public gathering, often in the synagogue; make and give Mishloach Manot (gifts, usually food); and give tzedakah to those in need. We also dress up in costume and eat hamantaschen.
