Connecting with Your Teen Grandchild in the Age of Social Media

Digital technologies are deeply woven into the fabric of teen life today, yet many grandparents feel disconnected from this crucial aspect of their grandchildren’s world.  

Erica Hruby and Rivkah Schack from The Jewish Education Project will present digital literacy fundamentals (understanding the platforms, language, and cultural norms of teen online spaces) and will address common challenges grandparents face — from deciphering “insult culture” to understanding how teens cultivate online personas. They will offer practical communication strategies that respect teens’ independence while strengthening your relationship.
