Being a grandparent can be joyful, exciting, and meaningful. But it can also be complex. Twenty percent of the grandparents who participated in the National Study of Jewish Grandparents report significant challenges in inter-generational relationships. Even more grandparents responded that, they don’t feel respected in their roles as grandparents and that their ideas about parenting differ from that of their children. This forum invites grandparents to share these and other concerns with fellow grandparents and to learn from one another.
54% of grandparents who participated in the National Study of Jewish Grandparents report that at least one of their grandchildren is being raised in a multi-faith family (where one of their grandchild’s parents does not identify as Jewish). While these families can bring great richness to our Jewish communities, they can also bring challenges. We invite you to share your family experiences in navigating this new reality and to learn from one another.
